The sound of the engines is gradually returning to the Green Hell. After the successful start of the contactless tourist rides a few days ago, the next good news now follows: Various motorsport trainings conducted under the guidance of professional instructors are allowed to take place again. Accordingly, various offers will be held again on the Grand Prix circuit, the famous Nordschleife and in the off-road park. These include dates for "free driving", training for sports drivers as well as courses with formula and off-road vehicles. Separate hygiene measures and rules apply for the participants.
"Contactless" - the word under which every concept is currently being developed at the Nürburgring stands for one thing above all: for the safe conduct of motor sport activities, taking into account the health of all participants. All components of an offer are checked for this. From registration and participation to arrival and departure. "We examine the entire process of a participant in great detail in order to be able to reliably identify and clarify possible contact situations. This is a top priority in addition to the already high safety standards of our offers," says Michael Dürbaum, Head of Sales & Business Development at the Nürburgring.
Theory only online, one participant per vehicle
According to the concept, the booking process for a limited number of participants and only for fixed dates will be offered exclusively online. The same applies to the theoretical instruction, which normally takes place on site during the training sessions. Each participant now completes this instruction from home via e-learning. All instructions, which have to take place at the vehicle and on the race track, are carried out in compliance with the distance rule and hygiene measures. Communication with the participants, each of whom sits alone in the vehicle, takes place by radio while driving. In addition, everyone wears a hygiene bonnet under their helmet, which also serves as a mouth and nose protector.
Special measures at Nürburgring formula and off-road trainings
In contrast to training courses where the participants drive their own vehicles, formula and off-road training courses require additional measures. For example, the cockpits of the vehicles are disinfected after each participant. Protective clothing provided for the course, such as helmets, hygiene bonnets or racing suits and gloves, are also professionally cleaned afterwards. "Of course, it is a big effort with which we now have to adjust the offers and observe compliance with the rules, but it is much more important that something can now take place again. This is a step in the right direction - we are now looking ahead and looking forward to the event," says Dürbaum and at the same time calls for the help of every participant: "Of course we can think conscientiously about all the organisational requirements - but one of the most important factors is still the participants themselves. Everyone has a special responsibility in this situation - to themselves and to others. In addition to following the rules, this also means staying at home if you feel ill." People who nevertheless arrive with corresponding symptoms of illness will be excluded from participation according to the rules of the concept.
