For the first time again spectators at the Nürburgring!

Next weekend, the Nürburgring will be able to welcome spectators for the first time this year. As part of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix, from 7 to 9 August, a total of up to 5,000 visitors will be able to take to the three open grandstands. This step has been agreed upon by the race track operators and the Ahrweiler district administration. The BMW M Power Grandstand (T3), the Bilstein Grandstand (T4) and the Mercedes Grandstand (T4a) along the start and finish straights will thus be occupied by a maximum of 30 percent. The corona rules will be strictly observed. After all, the health of everyone involved is still the focus of the live experience. Valid hygiene, distance and mask standards are guaranteed at all times by the health concept. At the same time, the premiere is considered a test run for subsequent Nürburgring events. From now on, the contactless purchase of personalized tickets is only possible online.

More information

It is an important step back to normality: At the Nürburgring the grandstands will open for the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix for the first time this year. Those responsible for the traditional race track have worked towards this moment in dialogue with the Institute for Hygiene and Public Health of the University Hospital in Bonn and in coordination with the Ahrweiler district administration. The well thought-out concept and the current health situation in Rhineland-Palatinate are the basis for the first weekend with spectators. "Of course this is a great success. Spectators are an important factor in any event. They create the unique atmosphere," explains Nürburgring Managing Director Mirco Markfort, but at the same time makes it clear. "We are happy, but we are also aware of our special responsibility in these times." What Markfort means is that the concept focuses on the health of all participants.

At the same time, a successful event at the Oldtimer Grand Prix could also increase the chance of spectators at subsequent Nürburgring events. Always against the background that the infection situation remains correspondingly stable.

Safety from the booking to the seat

For a successful premiere, a number of plans must be put into practice. This begins with the contactless ticket purchase, which is only possible online, personalized and space-saving. For full traceability, the open grandstands were divided into individual sections and designated seating blocks. These designated blocks each have four bookable seats and have a corresponding distance between them. On the way from the ticket control to the seat, masks are mandatory. Seat markers guarantee that everyone takes their personalised seat. This ensures tracking in case of infection. Each grandstand has also been allocated a fixed parking zone. A visitor guidance system then ensures that visitors from different grandstands do not have to meet each other. The otherwise accessible paddock is not open to visitors.

Tickets now only available online and limited
Those who would like to experience the spectacle on site can now purchase their ticket at favourable conditions. Between 14 euros (Friday) and 32.50 euros (weekend), a grandstand ticket is available at Children and young people up to 17 years of age are free of charge, but as a visitor a personalised 0.00 € seat ticket must be booked for them. The new booking process must also be followed by all those who would like to visit the event this year and who had already purchased their ticket in advance. They can, however, keep their original ticket for 2021 or return it to the respective advance booking office for a refund of the ticket price. The new tickets will be printed out at home and have seat numbering.
