Formula 1 Aramco Eifel Grand Prix starts at the Nürburgring

Formula 1 returns to the Nürburgring this year. From 9 to 11 October, the elite class of motorsports will be holding the „Formula 1 Aramco Eifel Grand Prix“ "Eifel Grand Prix". In constructive conversations, the race track and the series promoter have agreed on a joint staging this year. The return of Formula 1 is a significant event for the Nürburgring after seven years of absence. In addition, the organisers are working hard on the possibility that a limited number of spectators will also be able to follow the motorsports spectacle live on site.

"Of course we are full of anticipation for the event and also a little proud that we were able to bring Formula 1 back to the Nürburgring," says Nürburgring Managing Director Mirco Markfort, describing the current emotional situation. Since the last race of the series in the Eifel in 2013, there had been repeated talks. Recently, these had intensified again, as Markfort confirms: "The possibility of a Formula 1 race at the Nürburgring had become more and more probable in recent weeks. In very cooperative discussions we have now succeeded in finding a joint construct that both sides can live with very well. It was always important to us that the event is also sensible from an economic point of view.“

Chase Carey, Chairman and CEO of Formula 1: „We are pleased that we continue to make strong progress in finalising our plans for the 2020 season and are excited to welcome Nürburgring to the revised calendar. We want to thank the promoters, the teams, and the FIA for their full support in our efforts to bring our fans exciting racing this season during an unprecedented time.

The preparations for the event are now in full swing. The Nürburgring will publish further information bit by bit.
