A huge crew of 10,528 colourful and extremely cheerful StrongmanRunners, including 1,756 rookies, was excitedly looking forward to the starting signal for the second Fisherman‘s Friend StrongmanRun of the 2016 season. After a stimulating warm-up show, which this year again stirred the full range of emotions, from enthusiasm and excitement up to the ultimate adrenaline kick, the starting signal finally sounded at 1pm, catapulting the runners directly into their muddy adventure.

The unique Fisherman‘s Friend StrongmanRun spirit was everywhere, and the generally popular mass start was once again a moving kick-off to a successful event with exhausted but happy runners and plenty of goosebump moments.

699 women and 1,057 men tackled the 17 obstacles along the 12 kilometre distance of the Fisherman‘s Friend StrongmanRun. The total distance runners even completed an impressive two rounds, which meant 24 kilometres and 34 obstacles.

And these obstacles were nothing to be sneezed at! This year, the event organisers were particularly proud of obstacle number 16 – the „WATERGATE“. A huge climbing construction made from wood and shipping containers, topped by a slide that went down 6 metres. Here, waterfalls that brought the runners down with ice cold water created the perfect level of difficulty. However, „classics“ such as the „TYRE SHARK“ – a pool filled with approx. 20,000 car tyres – and the „LEG PRESS“, an area with carefully arranged wobbly tree trunks, also featured at the Nürburgring. They were not only responsible for numerous bruises but also for a lot of fun.

The official claim: GRAB YOUR MOMENT! was present everywhere. Moments of joy, when not one but two proposals of marriage were made in the course of the warm-up show. Moments of exuberant motivation, when the starting signal was given and the 10,528 runners set off together; moments of incredible pride as each runner made it across the finishing line; very personal moments of joy for a runner who had recently overcome a long and serious illness and was now able to once more take part in the StrongmanRun. High spirits were in abundance in the Eifel mountains; and at the Nürburgring, at least 10,528 new moments were lived, run, and celebrated.

Bronze, Silver, Gold
Once again, both the rookies as well as those who ran the entire distance achieved excellent times this year. A total of 13,000 runners had registered for the GREEN HELL. In actual fact, 10,528 faced the challenge, 2,541 women and 7,987 men.

Between team spirit and crew love
How can such an achievement be accomplished? Above all together!

„The crew idea and the solidarity amongst the runners are what the Fisherman‘s Friend StrongmanRuns are all about, and it always makes us very proud to see how everyone helps everyone else here, and everyone has fun together,“ says Michael Geiseler, the Fisherman‘s Friend Regional Business Manager for Germany/Austria/Switzerland. „Especially here at the Nürburgring, you witness so many individual stories that make the spirit of the event so vibrant and embody the uniqueness of a Fisherman‘s Friend StrongmanRun. You won‘t find that anywhere else!“

This crew idea, the ever-present team spirit and the spirit of sportsmanship, 10,528 runners and a fascinating warmup show turned this year‘s Fisherman‘s Friend StrongmanRun at the Nürburgring into a memorable occasion.
