Open Nordschleife

The fascination of the “Green Hell”. Speed and fun on the Nordschleife. Experience the most beautiful, longest, most challenging, and most travelled racecourse in the world on your own two or four wheels.

Visit the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. Completed in 1927, this race course which is unrivalled in the world has wowed people again and again.

Here motor sports idols such as Rudolf Caracciola, Manfred von Brauchitsch, Hermann Lang, Juan Manuel Fangio, or Graf Berghe von Trips made history with their daredevil exploits. Jackie Stewart reverently christened the serpentine route through the impressive Eiffel landscape the “Green Hell”. This race course is alluring even today.

Making the rounds of the Nürburgring with your own car or motorcycle is particularly challenging. Mastering the 20.8 km north loop course means constantly revaluating yourself and your driving skills under demanding conditions.

The Nordschleife is no modern race course. Blind curves, treacherous blind crests, steep grades, and frequent changes in road surface conditions and therefore in friction make the north loop one of the most demanding, challenging courses for any motor sports fan.

At the same time, it is regarded as what may be the “most beautiful country road in the world”.

The key advantage: There is no opposing traffic to disrupt your search for the racing line. However, there are other motorists due to the organised tours, so some rules need to be followed - in the interest of safety for all concerned.

For the hours of operation of the Nordschleife, please consult the following schedule or call our information line at (updated daily).

Coach Trips around the Nürburgring Nordschleife

A coach trip around the Nürburgring Nordschleife is always a fantastic experience for your holiday guests. As part of a tourist trip, coaches with a guide on board are allowed around the legendary Nordschleife of the Nürburgring.

These trips can only be booked firmly in advance and in combination with our popular backstage guided tours. Any attempt to drive around the Nordschleife without having booked firmly in advance will be stopped at the approach by our personnel.

When you arrive, please drive first of all to the Tourist Information in Otto-Flimm-Straße, immediately beside the B258. A guide will board your coach there and accompany you to the approach to the Nordschleife. The guide will give you the driving rules and will entertain your guests during the trip with exciting stories and information about the Nordschleife and its heroes and legends.

Driving rules for coaches:
1. As a general principle, always drive on the right (do not cut corners)
2. Switch on the hazard-warning signal
3. Do not stop
4. Do not reverse
5. Do not let anyone get off the coach
6. Drive as smartly as possible up slopes (accelerate beforehand)

Before or after your trip around the Nordschleife you will be taken on an approximately one-hour backstage guided tour behind the scenes at the Nürburgring. The areas you will see are normally not accessible to visitors and can only be experienced as part of an exclusive guided tour. Versed guides will give you valuable information and entertain you with amusing anecdotes from more than 80 years of eventful history. For example, you will get to see the drivers’ paddock, the pit lane, the Start & Finish building, the Media Center and the VIP terrace. From the roof of the pit building you will have an exclusive view over the Grand Prix track. To round off your tour, you can explore the secret drivers’ tunnel.
