Licences for co-pilot rides

Tender for licences for co-pilot rides for the years 2018 through 2020

Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG (NG) will award four licences for carrying out co-pilot rides on the Nürburgring Nordschleife during tourist ride sessions in the years 2018-2020. The licences entitle each licensee to operate two vehicles. Each licensee may only obtain one licence. The validity of the licences is limited to the years 2018-2020.

The licences will be awarded according to the following conditions of procedure:

1. Licences for co-pilot rides will only be awarded to interested parties that accept the “Licencing Prerequisites for Providers of Co-Pilot Rides during Tourist Ride Sessions on the Nürburgring Nordschleife” as well as the Model Agreement. The Licencing Prerequisites and the Model Agreement will be made available to those interested upon request.

2. Interested parties are required to submit their bid by 31 January 2018, 5 p.m. at the latest. The aforementioned deadline is a preclusive deadline. Bids submitted after this deadline will not be taken into consideration. The bid must be received by NG before the deadline to be considered timely (merely posting it before that deadline is not sufficient). Two communication channels for submitting bids are available to the interested parties.

  • The bid may be sent in writing to the following address:
Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG, attn. Michael Dürbaum, Otto-Flimm-Straße, 53520 Nürburg.
  • The bid may be sent to the following e-mail address:
    michael.duerbaum(at)nuerburgring.de
  • Bids submitted through other channels (e.g. delivered orally) are not admissible and will not be taken into consideration.

3. The following documents must be provided, at the latest when submitting the bid:

  • The “Licencing Prerequisites for Providers of Co-Pilot Rides during Tourist Ride Sessions on the Nürburgring Nordschleife” bearing the legally binding signature of the interested party.
  • A document specifying the binding net amount of the interested party’s bid for obtaining a licence to operate a maximum of two co-pilot vehicles on the Nürburgring Nordschleife during the seasons 2018 through 2020.
  • The net amount of the bid must be at least EUR 16,000 plus VAT per season. Bids below this amount will be excluded from the award procedure.

The licences will be awarded to the four interested parties whose bids specify the highest net bid amounts. If several interested parties specify the same net bid amount, lots will be drawn to decide which of their bids will be accepted. The drawing of lots will be subject to notarial supervision. The interested parties are entitled to be present for the drawing of lots and will be notified accordingly.

Interested parties are requested to also take note of the following information:

  • The Nürburgring Nordschleife may be closed for tourist rides (for instance for safety reasons or due to weather conditions). If the track is closed, the licensee will not be able to carry out co-pilot rides. The licensee is not entitled to demand that the track is open for tourist rides for a certain number of days.
  • If you have any questions, please contact the following persons exclusively via e-mail:
  • For legal and contractual matters: Carsten Paas,
    e-mail: carsten.paas(at)nuerburgring.de
  • For organisational and technical matters: Michael Dürbaum,

  • The licence shall be valid for two clearly specified vehicles. A change of vehicles may take place no more than once per calendar year. Moreover, the licensee may specify a replacement vehicle that may be used during the licence period if one of the other vehicles is unfit for use (due to a technical defect or similar circumstances).
  • The licensees of the 2017 season are entitled to redeem vouchers issued during the 2017 season until 29 March 2018 and carry out the corresponding co-pilot rides.
